【摘要】:Thistestmethodismeanttoallowforarapid(24h)indexofageomedia''ssorptionaffinityforgivenchemicalsorleachateconstituents.Alargenumberofsamplesmayberunusingthistestmethodtodetermineacomparativerankingofthosesamples,basedupontheamountofsolutesorbedbythegeomedia,orbyvariousgeomediaorleachateconstituents.The24-htimeisusedtomakethetestconvenientandalsotominimizemicrobialdegradationwhichmaybeaprobleminlonger-timedprocedures.WhileKdvaluesaredirectlyapplicableforscreeningandcomparativerankingpurposes,theiruseinpredictivefieldapplicationsgenerallyrequirestheassumptionthatKdbeafixedvalue.Whilethistestmethodmaybeusefulindetermining24-hKdvaluesfornonvolatileorganicconstituents,interlaboratorytestinghasbeencarriedoutonlyforthenonvolatileinorganicspecies,arsenicandcadmium.However,theprocedurehasbeentestedforsinglelaboratoryprecisionwithpolychlorinatedbiphenyls(PCBs)andisbelievedtobeusefulforallstableandnonvolatileinorganic,andorganicconstituents.Thistestmethodisnotconsideredappropriateforvolatileconstituents.The24-htimelimitmaybesufficienttoreachasteady-stateKd.However,toreportthisdeterminationasasteady-stateKd,thistestmethodshouldbeconductedforintermediatetimes(forexample,12,18and22h)toensurethatthesolubleconcentrationsinthesolutionhavereachedasteadystateby24h.RefertoTestMethodD4319foranalternateprocedureoflongerduration.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedurefordeterminingthesorptionaffinityofwastesolutesbyunconsolidatedgeologicmaterialinaqueoussuspension.Thewastesolutemaybederivedfromavarietyofsourcessuchaswells,underdrainsystems,orlaboratorysolutionssuchasthoseproducedbywasteextractiontestsliketheTestMethodD3987shakeextractionmethod.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicableinscreeningandprovidingrelativerankingsofalargenumberofgeomediasamplesfortheirsorptionaffinityinaqueousleachate/geomediasuspensions.Thistestmethodmaynotexactlysimulatesorptioncharacteristicsthatwouldoccurinunperturbedgeologicsettings.1.3Whilethisproceduremaybeapplicabletobothorganicandinorganicconstituents,caremustbetakenwithrespecttothestabilityoftheparticularconstituentsandtheirpossiblelossesfromsolutionbysuchprocessesasdegradationbymicrobes,light,orhydrolysis.Thistestmethodshouldnotbeusedforvolatilechemicalconstituents(see6.1).1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
