【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameanstoquantifytheabrasionresistanceofdimensionstoneandmayberelatedtoend-useperformance,orusedtocomparativelyrankmaterialperformance,orboth.Theresistanceofdimensionstonetoabrasion,asmeasuredonatestingmachineinthelaboratory,isgenerallyonlyoneofseveralfactorscontributingtowearperformanceasexperiencedintheactualuseofthematerial.Calculationofpredictedlifeshouldnotbebasedonspecificabrasiondataalone.Theresistanceofdimensionstonetoabrasionmaybeaffectedbyfactorsincludingtestconditions;typeofabradant;pressurebetweenthespecimenandabradant;mountingortensionofthespecimen;andtype,kind,oramountoffinishingmaterials.Abrasiontestsutilizingtherotaryplatform,double-headabrasermaybesubjecttovariationduetochangesintheabradantduringthecourseofspecifictests.Dependingonabradanttypeandtestspecimen,theabradingwheelsurfacemaychange(thatis,becomeclogged)duetopick-upoffinishingorothermaterialsfromtestspecimens.Toreducethisvariation,theabradingwheelsmayrequireresurfacingafteruse.1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheestablishmentofanindexofabrasionresistancebydeterminationoflossofvolumeresultingfromabrasionofdimensionstoneasdescribedinTerminologyC119andisbasedonGuideG195.1.2Units8212;Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.2.1Exception8212;TheformulaforcalculationoftheresultofthistestmethodreliesontheuseofSIunits;allmeasurementsofweightinthistestmethodshallberecordedinSIunits.1.2.2Exception8212;Astheequipmentusedinthistestmethodwasdesignedandinitiallyfabricatedusingdimensionsininch-poundunits,thevaluesofequipmentdimensionsstatedinSIunitshavebeengivenasexactconversionstothenearest0.1mm.1.3Thistestmethodusesarotaryplatform,double-headabrasertodeterminethelossinvolumeofdimensionstonecausedbyabrasionundercontrolledconditions.1.4Thistestmethodisusefulinindicatingthedifferencesinabrasionresistancebetweenthevariousdimensionstones.Thistestmethodprovidesoneelementincomparingstonesofthesametype.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
