【摘要】:Thesolublesaltcontentmaybeusedtocorrecttheindexpropertiesofsoils(watercontent,voidratio,specificgravity,degreeofsaturation,anddrydensity).Itisnecessarytominimizethetimeperiodbetweensamplingandtestingduetochemicalchangeswhichmayoccurwithinthesoilsample.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.Note28212;HulbertandBrindle(2)andTorrance(3)haveshownthatprolongedstorageshouldbeavoidedasunpredictableandnonreproduciblechemicalchangesmayoccur.1.1Thistestmethodcoversarapidprocedureforsqueezingporewaterfromfine-grainedsoilsforthepurposeofdeterminingtheamountofsolublesaltspresentintheextractedporewater.1.2Thistestmethodwasdevelopedforsoilshavingawatercontentequaltoorgreaterthanapproximately14%,forexample,marinesoils.AnextensivesummaryofproceduresforextractingporewaterfromsoilshasbeenpresentedbyKriukovandManheim(1).1.3Thistestmethodisnotgenerallyapplicablefordeterminingthesolublesaltcontentoftheporewaterextractedfromcoarse-grainedsoils,suchascleansandsandgravels.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.
